Our Mission

The Laff Riot Girls’ mission is to make people laugh. We do this by presenting professional stand up and improv comedy shows that are tailored to our audience.

The Laff Riot Girls believe in nurturing comedic talent and strive to challenge ourselves as artists. We succeed by treating our comics well, offering our audiences a high quality entertainment experience… and having fun!

The Laff Riot Girls is Western Canada’s longest running independent stand up comedy show. It was started in 1997 by local stand up comic Ardell Fitzpatrick to help give aspiring and established female stand ups a show to hone their skills and try out material. It has since evolved into a show known for high octane comedy and pleasing audiences wherever they perform.

With more than 575 shows to its credit, people are still coming to see the shows - and be entertained. The venues have changed over time (Laff Lines, The Comedy Store, Zesty's Restaurant) and over 100 different stand ups have performed with us, but the secret is the show itself.

People in the know have been coming to Laff Riot Girl shows for years because it's a high energy funny show where they can see tomorrow's comedy greats today! We also put together pro shows with our best and brightest comics for special events throughout the province. Click on 'Book 'Em' to contact us

We wrapped up our 8th season of comedy in June at our jam and workout room at Zesty's. Another great year!

The Laff Riot Girls performed all over BC including Vernon, Campbell River, New Westminster and Victoria as well as various venues in Vancouver, bringing our show total to close to 575!

Highlights of the season included our three night 'concert series' at the 2004 Vancouver International Comedy Festival where we got to play with great comics like Erica Sigurdson and Kristeen Von Hagen. We held our first Raising the Roof fundraiser in February as part of a series of national comedy nights to raise money to help fight homelessness. And we
We tore up the stage at Vernon for an electric celebration of International Women's Day! And we enjoyed some fine western hospitality at Calgary's Funnyfest Comedy Festival in the spring (Thanks Stu!).

We held our Third Annual Search for the Funniest 'New' Comedy Competition in March thru May and annointed Colleen Brow as funniest new comic of the year, along with Robin Farrell (2nd) and Amy Wilding (3rd) over 40 other comics vying for the honour.

Thank you to the comics, our unbelievable audiences, and Salom and the staff at Zesty's for another great year!
